La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve, Nature reserve in Quebec, Canada
La Vérendrye Wildlife Reserve spans 12,589 square kilometers of land, containing more than 4,000 lakes and two major reservoirs, Dozois and Cabonga.
The reserve was established in 1939 as Reserve Route-Mont-Laurier-Senneterre and renamed in 1950 to honor explorer Pierre Gaultier de Varennes.
The territory maintains active hunting and fishing rights for Aboriginal communities who continue their traditional practices within the reserve.
Visitors can access over 1,000 campsites, 800 kilometers of canoe routes, and numerous fishing spots through the main service center at Le Domaine.
The reserve includes an interconnected network of 800 lakes where anglers can catch walleye, lake trout, northern pike, and sturgeon throughout the year.
