Lynn Valley Trail, nature trail in Norfolk County, Ontario
Lynn Valley Trail is a pathway in Ontario built on a former railway line. It runs approximately 11 kilometers from Port Dover to the town of Simcoe, passing through woods and open fields with a flat, compacted soil surface.
The route was established in the late 1800s as a railway line serving to move people and goods across the region. After the railway ceased operations in the late 20th century, the line was converted into a walking and cycling path.
The trail serves as a gathering place where local residents connect with nature on a daily basis. People use it for exercise, quiet reflection, and to mark the changing seasons throughout the year.
The trail is open year-round with a flat, easy-to-walk surface of compacted soil suitable for most ages and fitness levels. Bring comfortable shoes and water, and dress appropriately for the season since there are no shops or shelters along the path.
The trail features multiple access points spaced approximately one and a half to two kilometers apart, allowing visitors to customize their route length. Original wooden bridges from the railway era remain intact, adding historical character to the walk.
