Spiegelberg ruins

The remnants of Spiegelberg castle stand on a rock ridge of Arête des Sommêtres, overlooking the Doubs Valley at 1079 meters elevation.

Swedish troops destroyed the castle in 1636 during the Thirty Years' War, marking the end of its occupation and leading to permanent abandonment.

The site holds regional significance as a Class B Swiss cultural property, representing medieval defensive architecture in the Jura Mountains region.

Visitors can reach the ruins via a marked hiking trail from Le Noirmont station, with a walking time of approximately thirty minutes through the landscape.

A mountain hut at the ruins, managed by the Groupe d'Alpinistes des Franches-Montagnes, provides seven sleeping spots and cooking facilities without reservation requirements.
