Sri Sivasubramaniar Temple, Hindu temple in Adliswil, Switzerland
The Sri Sivasubramaniar Temple is a Hindu sanctuary located in a converted factory building along the Sihl river in Adliswil's industrial area near Zurich. The building has been adapted to house religious ceremonies and prayer spaces for worshippers.
The sanctuary was established in 1994 when an interfaith organization founded a center for spiritual care of Tamil people in Switzerland. This initiative allowed the community to have a stable place for their religious practices and gatherings.
The temple serves as a gathering place for the Tamil community in the region, offering a space for religious gatherings and cultural celebrations. Visitors can observe statues of Shiva, Murugan, and other deities that shape daily spiritual life.
The sanctuary is easily reached by train S4 or SNS4 to Sihlau station, or by bus lines 151 and 152 to Adliswil Friedhof. Daily ceremonies take place at 7:30 PM and are open to visitors at any time.
In August each year, a public procession honoring the god Murugan takes place, drawing several thousand people from the region who fill the streets of Adliswil. This event shows how vibrant the local religious community truly is.
