Trostburg Castle, Medieval castle in Teufenthal, Switzerland
Trostburg is a medieval castle sitting on raised ground in Switzerland. The building displays Gothic features, a triple-vaulted hall, decorated living spaces, and a newer knights hall with Renaissance ornaments added in the 1600s.
The castle was built in 1494 and first served as a residence for the Lords of Rinach. After several changes in ownership, the Hallwil family acquired it through a sale arranged by Bern.
The chapel inside holds religious artwork that reflects the faith of those who lived here. The coat of arms frescoes in the loggia show the importance of the family that made this place their home.
