This majestic statue was completed on April 24, 2005, symbolizing peace and protection for China and the world.
Guanyin is an important deity in Buddhism, known as the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion.
The statue has three aspects: one aspect faces inland while the other two face the South China Sea, to bless both China and the rest of the world.
It's one of the tallest statues in the world and the tallest statue of Guanyin in the world.
