China Children's Art Theater

This theater is a Western classical-style building that primarily showcases various children's stage plays and was once the only theater in China dedicated to serving children. The China Children's Theater has a rich history, having previously been known as the Zhen Guang Cinema and the Beijing Theater. It opened on November 5th, 1921, and was one of the most luxurious and advanced cultural facilities in Beijing at the time. The location of the Zhen Guang Cinema was originally the canteen of the Jinghan Railway Bureau, which later became a tea house. Due to poor management, it closed down, and in 1919, the land was leased to the Zhen Guang Cinema. The cinema building was completed in 1921 and was luxurious and advanced in its facilities. Its internal facilities remained at the forefront of Beijing's major cinemas until the 1950s. The Zhen Guang Cinema covers an area of 2500 square meters, with a building area of approximately 4000 square meters. In front of the cinema, there is a nearly 500 square meter square, with parking and ticket sales areas, which were not available in Beijing's previous cinemas and theaters. The facade of the cinema building is shaped like a clock tower, with a huge arch in the center. The rooftop has an aerial garden, and tall towers are built on both sides.
