Kutschenberg, Summit in Großkmehlen, Germany
Kutschenberg is a hill located near Großkmehlen in Brandenburg, reaching 201 meters in elevation. It forms part of the Kmehlener Berge mountain range and shapes the area's landscape.
The Kutschenberg's status as Brandenburg's highest hill was only established by new surveys in 2000, which measured it at 201 m. In 2011 a small granite stele inscribed "KUTSCHENBERG 201 m ü. NHN" was set up on the wooded summit. A trig point at 199.7 m lies near the top.
The northeast slope hosts the Am Kutschenberg racetrack, which has become a gathering place for motorsport enthusiasts. Regular events with cars and motorcycles take place there throughout the year.
Several hiking routes lead to the summit, including a 6.8-kilometer loop from Großkmehlen and a longer 21.5-kilometer trail from Ortrand. Both routes are manageable on foot or by bicycle.
The Heidehöhe, 11 km west near Gröden, reaches 201.4 m and is thus higher than the Kutschenberg, but its summit, the Heideberg, lies in Saxony, so it counts only as Brandenburg's highest point, not its highest hill.
