Historisches Stadttheater Weißenhorn

Historisches Stadttheater Weißenhorn is a performance venue in the town featuring neoclassical design elements and a compact hall with seating for approximately 140 guests inside a repurposed barn structure. The interior contains a stage and audience area arranged in the intimate style typical of 19th-century theaters.

The building originated in the 1500s as a tithe barn and was converted into a theater in 1876. Major renovations in the 1920s and 1970s preserved the structure while updating parts of it for continued use.

The venue hosts theatrical productions and cultural events that bring together the local community regularly. These performances and gatherings form an important part of regional cultural life today.

The venue sits at Wettbach 23 in Weißenhorn and preserves its old character, which means wheelchair access is not currently available. Visitors should expect an older building with limited accessibility features throughout.

The building hides behind plain exterior walls that completely conceal its refined interior, surprising visitors upon entry. Architect Valentin Gaiser created this contrast in the 1800s, making the outside look ordinary while the inside displays thoughtful design.
