Zwirnerei und Nähfadenfabrik Göggingen, Textile factory and architectural monument in Augsburg, Germany
The Zwirnerei und Nähfadenfabrik Göggingen is an early 20th century industrial site with multiple brick buildings arranged along the Singold River. The structures display typical features of German factory architecture from that period with solid walls and functional design.
The business started in 1873 as a silk weaving company and used river water power for sewing thread production. After building its own canal with a turbine house in 1884, the factory expanded until it merged with another firm in 1957.
The factory complex shows how an industrial business cared for its workers and integrated them into the community. Beyond production, facilities like bathing areas were built to serve the daily needs of employees.
The site is now partly used for housing and offices after major renovation work. Visitors should note that some areas are private property and not all buildings can be entered without permission.
The factory was among the first businesses in the area to provide its workers with dedicated bathing facilities. This Gögginger Luftbad was not only practical but also showed the owner's commitment to modern social responsibility.
