Akademie Waldschlösschen

Akademie Waldschlösschen is an educational center and conference venue located between Göttingen and Heiligenstadt in Lower Saxony. The facility hosts seminars, workshops, and events focused on civic participation, health matters, and anti-discrimination work.

The building was constructed in 1904 as Kurhotel Waldschlösschen and was converted into an educational institution in 1981. It received its current name in 2000.

The academy grew from the German gay movement of the 1970s and now serves as a meeting place where LGBTQ+ organizations and people come together. Visitors experience firsthand how commitment to diversity and equality shapes the work done here.

The academy is conveniently situated between two major cities and accommodates both day visitors and longer stays. Guests find lodging, seminar rooms, and a varied program running throughout the year.

After the fall of the inner-German border in 1989, the academy found itself positioned at Germany's geographical center. The location is roughly five kilometers from where the divide between East and West once stood.
