Barigauer Turm

Barigauer Turm is an observation tower standing at 666 meters elevation in Oberhain with panoramic views across the surrounding landscape. From its position, visitors can see across numerous villages, towns, and mountain ranges including Schneekopf and Leuchtenberg.

The Thüringerwald-Verein organization built and opened the tower in 1912 as a regional viewing point. This founding made the location an important stop for people exploring the landscape.

The restaurant inside serves regional dishes that blend Thuringian and Bavarian cooking traditions. Visitors can taste local specialties that reflect how people in this area eat and celebrate together.

The tower is open Thursday through Sunday, and a restaurant serves warm meals until late afternoon. Clear weather offers the best viewing conditions, as it extends the distance you can see across the landscape.

On clear days, visitors can spot roughly 40 different settlements and mountain peaks from a single vantage point. This exceptional reach makes the tower a rare place where you can grasp the full scope of the region at once.
