Bekenntniskirche, Protestant parish church in Alt-Treptow, Germany
The Bekenntniskirche is a Protestant parish church in expressionist style in Alt-Treptow featuring three main areas: anteroom, nave, and altar space oriented toward the north. The building contains two organs and a community hall situated beneath the main nave.
The building was completed in 1931 and suffered damage during an air raid in 1945 that destroyed its altar window. The Sauer organ from 1930 underwent major restoration work following German reunification.
The interior displays mosaics portraying Reformation leaders that reflect the protestant identity of the space. A dark ceramic baptismal font from the construction period shapes the altar area and speaks to the craftsmanship traditions of its era.
The church is typically accessible during opening hours and suits visits especially when services are not taking place. Sunday gatherings at 11 AM set the regular rhythm for the congregation's activities.
The expressionist structure displays clear lines and forms that depart from traditional church architecture. This design approach was noteworthy in the 1930s and makes the building visually distinctive even today.
