The Bordesholm Gerichtslinde stood 18 meters tall with a diameter of 2.30 meters, serving as a central landmark in the town center.
For over 700 years, this linden tree functioned as a judicial gathering place where village courts and council meetings were conducted until the early 19th century.
The Bordesholm Gerichtslinde holds such local significance that it appears on the official coat of arms of the Bordesholm municipality.
The tree remained a central meeting point for community events and local gatherings until its removal on May 29, 2018.
This specimen ranked among the oldest and most recognized trees in Schleswig-Holstein, with an estimated age of seven centuries.
