Wasserturm Elmshorn

The 45-meter-tall brick tower displays Renaissance Revival architectural features with detailed facade work and symmetrical window arrangements throughout its structure.

Built in 1902, the water tower served as a vital component of municipal infrastructure until 1989, ensuring proper water pressure for Elmshorn's distribution system.

The structure stands as a recognized cultural heritage monument in Schleswig-Holstein, representing early 20th-century engineering and architectural achievements.

Located at Jahnstraße 1, the tower now houses Ilses Kerzenhaus, where visitors can make their own candles and enjoy refreshments at the bistro.

In 2003, this former water infrastructure was sold for just 50 cents and transformed into a specialized candle-making workshop and exhibition space.
