Buchenberg, Mountain summit in Halblech, Germany.
Buchenberg is a mountain summit rising to about 1140 meters in the Bavarian Allgäu region. From the top you can see across a wide landscape that includes multiple lakes and the foothills of the Alps.
The mountain served as a connecting route between settlements in the Bavarian Alps since medieval times and was used by merchants as a trade path. Regular use shaped the trails that still exist in the landscape today.
The Buchenbergalm restaurant keeps alive traditional Bavarian hospitality and serves regional dishes while guests watch paragliders from the terrace. The local food reflects the mountain farming way of life found in these valleys.
The summit is easily reached by the Buchenbergbahn, a chairlift located at Bundesstraße 17 in the Buching district. Taking the lift saves time and effort for visitors who want to enjoy the views without a long hike.
The area is connected by a large network of marked hiking trails that extend into the Kenzen region, where King Ludwig II spent time. This royal connection gives the mountain a special place in local history.
