Schloss Kirchhausen, Renaissance castle in Heilbronn, Germany.
Schloss Kirchhausen is a Renaissance castle in Heilbronn featuring four round corner towers and a rusticated base level. The building was originally surrounded by water defenses, traces of which remain visible today.
The Teutonic Order built this castle between 1572 and 1578 on the site of an earlier structure. The previous building dated to the 14th century and belonged to the von Talheim family.
The castle displays the building style that Renaissance nobility favored, with round towers at the corners that once expressed power and wealth. Today visitors can see how such buildings served both as residences and defensive structures.
The building serves as a town hall today and can be visited from the outside, with tours available during regular opening hours. Access is straightforward since the castle is located in a residential area.
The castle underwent extensive restoration in 1965, saving the then-deteriorating building from further decline. The renovation preserved its Renaissance features while adapting it for modern municipal use.
