Schloss Groß Leuthen

Schloss Groß Leuthen is a Renaissance château in Märkische Heide featuring two stories with a round staircase tower and residential sections displaying Jugendstil detailing. The building combines older structural foundations with architectural additions from the early 1900s, creating a layered appearance.

The building emerged from medieval origins and underwent significant Renaissance modifications around 1550 that shaped its core character. Between 1912 and 1914, Neo-Renaissance elements were added during a major modernization phase.

The estate reflects the tastes and priorities of successive noble families who shaped it over time. You can see how each generation left its mark through architectural choices and estate management.

The château functions as a private residence today and public access to the interior is not permitted. The exterior can be viewed from the grounds, but visitors should plan to see the building from outside only.

Between 1945 and 1990, the château was converted into an orphanage for local children following Soviet land reforms. This unusual chapter gave the estate a different purpose than its original role as a noble residence.
