Saint Peter's Church, Fritzlar

The stone church rises with two western towers featuring Romanesque Revival spires and a central nave flanked by Gothic southern side aisles.

Saint Boniface established the original wooden church in 723 after cutting down a sacred oak tree dedicated to the Germanic god Donar.

The Cathedral Museum within the cloister exhibits medieval German paintings, religious manuscripts, and ceremonial objects from the Middle Ages.

The museum welcomes visitors daily except Mondays from January through December, with guided tours available upon request at the entrance.

Twenty-one people lost their lives when the southern tower spire collapsed during a mass in 1868, leading to the reconstruction of both towers.
