Falterturm, Medieval inclined tower in Kitzingen, Germany.
Falterturm is a seven-story medieval defensive tower standing 52 m (170 ft) tall in the town of Kitzingen, Bavaria. It was part of the old city fortification and stood at the edge of the walled settlement.
The tower was built during the Middle Ages when Kitzingen constructed its city walls for protection. It is one of the few remaining towers from that original defensive ring.
The Falterturm is known locally as the leaning tower of Kitzingen and draws visitors who want to see the tilt in person. It stands in the open in the town center and is a natural meeting point for anyone walking through the area.
The tower sits in the center of Kitzingen and is easy to reach on foot. Other historic buildings are nearby, so it fits naturally into a walk through the old town.
The Falterturm leans noticeably to one side because the ground beneath it shifted over the centuries. This tilt gave it the nickname of the leaning tower of Kitzingen.
