Wasserschloss Mitwitz, Renaissance water castle in Mitwitz, Germany.
Wasserschloss Mitwitz is a water castle in the region of Mitwitz in Bavaria with four wings and solid corner towers. The structure is surrounded by water ditches and situated within a pond landscape.
The castle originated in the 13th century but was substantially rebuilt between 1596 and 1598 under Hans Veit von Würtzburg, acquiring its current Renaissance form.
The Mirror Room displays a series of paintings about the Joseph legend created by Main Franconian painter Georg Anton Urlaub, whose works can still be seen on the walls today.
The castle can be booked through the Mitwitz Tourism Association for weddings, conferences, and cultural events. Rooms such as the White Hall and the old riding hall are available for various occasions.
Five rooms still preserve original Baroque wall hangings from the 18th century, while other areas display decorations from later periods. These varying furnishings provide insight into room design across multiple eras.
