St. Remigius, Lutheran church in Mengede district, Dortmund, Germany.
St. Remigius features a three-nave structure with a transept, choir square, and a west tower reaching 104 meters in height.
The construction of St. Remigius began in 1250 at the intersection of Hellweg trade route, with the original tower collapsing during an earthquake in 1661.
The church transformed from Catholic to Protestant ownership in 1672, marking a substantial change in the religious landscape of Mengede district.
The tower contains six steel bells manufactured by Bochumer Verein foundry in 1954, weighing a total of 20 tons.
The church houses the tomb of Matthias von Büren and Margaretha von Galen, parents of Gerhard Lothar von Büren, dean of Speyer Cathedral.
