Rader Hochbrücke, Steel girder bridge in Borgstedt, Germany.
The Rader Hochbrücke extends 1498 meters across the Nord-Ostsee-Kanal, incorporating four traffic lanes and two emergency lanes at 49 meters above water level.
Engineers completed the construction of this substantial infrastructure project in 1972, making it the second-longest steel plate girder bridge in Germany at that time.
The bridge design reflects German engineering principles of the 1970s with its narrow main girders supported by double piers across the Kiel Canal.
Regular inspections in 2013 resulted in temporary weight restrictions, leading to specific speed limits of 100 km/h for cars and 60 km/h for trucks.
The bridge structure maintains a curvature radius of 12,500 meters and includes designated paths for cyclists who cross the Nord-Ostsee-Kanal.
