Kloster Fockenfeld, Architectural heritage monument in Bavaria, Germany
Kloster Fockenfeld is a monastery complex located near Konnersreuth in the Tirschenreuth district of Bavaria. The site contains multiple buildings including workshops, towers, and surrounding walls that form the monastic ensemble.
The monastery was founded in 1156 by Herman van Stahleck and became part of the Cistercian monastery Waldsassen from 1362. It was secularized in 1556 and later destroyed during the Thirty Years' War before being reconstructed.
The monastery features a ceremonial hall decorated with The Last Supper painting by artist Elias Dollhopf, completed in 1768.
The site is accessible on foot, with various buildings reachable via walking paths across the grounds. Being located in a somewhat remote area, it helps to plan your visit in advance and check local access information.
A notable feature is the chapel decorated with a large wall painting of the Last Supper created by artist Elias Dollhopf in 1768. This artwork reveals the religious artistic tradition that was cultivated at this location.
