Schloss Isareck, Medieval château in Wang, Germany

Schloss Isareck is a château in Wang featuring a three-story northeastern wing positioned on steep slopes where the Isar and Amper rivers converge in Bavaria. The complex building layout spreads across this strategically positioned site with multiple interconnected wings.

Master builder Asmus Hälmayr constructed the four-wing complex between 1559 and 1570 for Bavarian Duke Albrecht V near Moosburg. This Renaissance period left a lasting mark on the architectural character of the site.

The St. Georg chapel on the first floor displays religious artworks that reflect the piety of former residents. The baroque bulbous dome crowning the tower shapes the structure's profile and represents a style common to this era in Bavaria.

The castle grounds serve as a filming location for television productions, which may limit access at certain times. It is advisable to check ahead about visiting opportunities and any scheduled access times.

Underground medieval and early modern structures lie beneath the castle, protected as archaeological monuments under code D-1-7537-0384. These hidden layers document the site's history across multiple centuries.
