Steinbergpark, Garden monument in Reinickendorf, Germany
Steinbergpark is a forested park in the Berlin district of Reinickendorf, with pine, oak, birch, and robinia trees covering most of the terrain. Several unpaved paths cross the park and lead up to the Steinberg hill at its center.
The woodland was acquired by the Reinickendorf municipality in 1924 and opened as a public park for local residents. As the surrounding area grew into a residential neighborhood, the park became a fixed part of everyday life in the district.
The park serves as a retreat where visitors walk beneath mature trees and experience nature close to the city. Open meadows provide gathering spaces where families and friends spend time together enjoying the surroundings.
The trails are unpaved and can get muddy after rain, so sturdy footwear is a good idea throughout the year. In winter, the slope near the Steinberg hill is used for sledding and attracts families from the surrounding neighborhoods.
At the foot of the hill, a constructed waterfall sends water down nine steps made of large stones. The structure fits so naturally into the wooded setting that it can easily be mistaken for a natural stream at first glance.
