St. Maria Rosenkranz, Gothic Revival filial church in Eicken, Mönchengladbach, Germany

St. Maria Rosenkranz is a Catholic filial church in Eicken with a three-nave cruciform design that follows Gothic Revival principles. The interior features multiple stained glass windows, several altars, and a substantial organ with 37 registers across three manuals and pedals.

Architect Heinrich Nagelschmidt designed this church in 1873 to serve the growing population of textile workers settling in the Eicken district. Archbishop Philipp Krementz of Cologne later consecrated the building and placed it under the patronage of the Queen of the Holy Rosary.

The church is dedicated to the Queen of the Holy Rosary, a choice that shaped how the local community gathered for prayer and devotion. This patronage reflects spiritual traditions that continue to guide worship practices today.

This church functions as an active place of worship with regular Catholic services open to visitors during standard hours. Plan time to walk through the interior at a comfortable pace and visit during daylight to fully appreciate the stained glass and architectural details.

A small bell was first installed in 1876, with five additional bells added later from a specialized foundry to create a fuller sound. Together, these bells form a distinctive chime that rings across the neighborhood today.
