Jerusalemhaus, House museum at Schillerplatz, Wetzlar, Germany

The Jerusalemhaus contains two memorial rooms on the second floor furnished with 18th-century furniture, maps, prints, and historical documents.

Karl Wilhelm Jerusalem, secretary of the Brunswick legation, ended his life in this timber-framed building on October 30, 1772.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe transformed Jerusalem's story into the character Werther for his 1774 novel The Sorrows of Young Werther.

The museum maintains a specialized library collecting German editions and international translations of The Sorrows of Young Werther.

This building forms a literary connection with the nearby Lottehaus, creating a network of German cultural sites dedicated to Goethe's work.
