Castra Riusiava

Castra Riusiava is a Roman fortress with preserved foundation walls of defenses, barracks, and administrative structures arranged in geometric patterns. The remains follow the typical layout of Roman military compounds built for strategic defense.

The fortress was built as a military outpost during Roman occupation of Raetia. It formed part of the defensive system along the Limes frontier that protected Roman territories.

The site reveals how Roman soldiers lived and worked here, with areas for training and communal activities visible in the remains. The structures on display tell the story of daily routines and the social order within this ancient garrison.

The site is easily accessible with informative panels explaining the fortress layout. The remains are open to visitors who can freely examine the foundation walls and archaeological finds at their own pace.
