Kurhaus Binz, Former sea resort spa house in Binz, Germany.
Kurhaus Binz is a spa house along the beach promenade of Binz, distinguished by white facades with decorative details and multiple balconies facing the Baltic Sea. The complex consists of several sections and now accommodates around 137 rooms within its spaces.
The original wooden building was erected in 1890 but burned down in 1906 and was rebuilt in stone according to architect Otto Spalding's design in 1907. This reconstruction marked the start of a new era for the structure in its modern form.
The building served as a meeting place for artists and intellectuals who gathered in its halls for performances and social events. This role as a cultural center shaped its identity for decades and made it a social hub of the town.
The building sits directly on the beach promenade with immediate access to the sand and sea. Visitors find it easily since it occupies a main location in the town center and is visible from the promenade.
Four memorial stones placed in 2012 remember the former Jewish owners who were stripped of their property during the Nazi period. These stones tell an important story about the place's past that often goes unnoticed.
