Sächsische Landesschule

Sächsische Landesschule is a school building complex in Klotzsche composed of various interconnected structures serving different purposes. The site includes teaching facilities, administrative and service buildings, an assembly hall, sports areas, and residential quarters for students and staff.

The building was established in 1920 as a successor to a dissolved cadet academy, yet operated only until 1934 when closure came due to National Socialist education policies. After World War II, the Soviet Army occupied the site and used it as barracks until restoration as a protected monument began in the 1990s.

The building displays neoclassical forms with colored sandstone facades that give the place its distinctive character. Relief panels on the walls depict ancient school scenes and reflect the institution's connection to educational heritage.

The site can be viewed from outside, offering clear views of the neoclassical design and facade details. Today it houses an institute and academic hotel that are accessible to visitors seeking to explore the restored complex.

The site functioned as a school for only a brief period before being used as Soviet military barracks for nearly 50 years. This overlap of different historical periods makes it a place where multiple chapters of regional history are physically layered.
