Marinesiedlung

Marinesiedlung is a residential area on the southern shore of Lake Schlachtensee in Berlin's Steglitz-Zehlendorf district, consisting of several houses situated on elevated ground above the waterfront. The homes feature spacious floor plans and are characterized by straightforward, functional architecture typical of residential estates from that era.

The residential area was designed between 1938 and 1943 by architect Rudolf Kühn to house naval officers during the period of naval expansion. After the war, it evolved into a popular residential neighborhood for Berlin families and was later placed under heritage protection.

The estate takes its name from its original purpose as housing for naval personnel, a legacy still visible in the spacious floor plans and family-oriented design of the homes. The residential complex has served for decades as a preferred neighborhood for Berlin families and continues to shape the character of the southern lakeshore.
