Petrikirche

The Petrikirche is a Gothic Revival church building constructed with brick masonry and featuring traditional religious architectural elements from the late 19th century. The structure displays characteristic gothic details that define its exterior appearance and design.

The church sustained bomb damage during 1943 and underwent extensive reconstruction afterward. Major restoration work was completed by 1953, with the tower rebuilt in a separate phase from 1962 to 1963.

This Lutheran church serves as a center for worship and life-cycle ceremonies in the Buchholz-Kleefeld community. It functions as a meeting place for religious gatherings and celebrations that connect local residents throughout the year.

The church is located at Fichtestraße 2 in the Buchholz-Kleefeld district and is easily reached on foot. The building has limited wheelchair accessibility, so visitors with mobility considerations should keep this in mind beforehand.

Architect Uvo Hölscher oversaw the tower reconstruction, playing a key role in preserving the Gothic Revival character of the building. His work ensured that the church retained its original architectural style even though it was completely redesigned after the war.
