Orangerie, Late Baroque architectural monument in Kempten, Germany.
The Orangerie features a stretched two-story structure with a three-sided central pavilion and two three-story corner projections at the northern edge of Hofgarten.
Built in 1780 under Prince-Abbot Honorius Roth von Schreckenstein, the Orangerie initially served as a greenhouse for cultivating orange trees in the monastery's garden complex.
The ceiling vault of the current reading room displayed a fresco depicting the allegory of four seasons until 1938, reflecting period artistic preferences.
Since 1963, the Orangerie houses the city library, offering approximately 120,000 media items for public lending following extensive renovations.
In 1915, the building experienced an unusual incident when a small aircraft crashed into its west wing, leading to subsequent structural modifications.
