Rhine Bridge, Germersheim

The Rhine Bridge spans 268 meters across the river with three sections, featuring a central span of 136 meters supported by minimal pillars for river navigation.

The current bridge, completed in 1967, replaced an earlier 1877 structure that German forces demolished during the final months of World War II in 1945.

The bridge forms an essential component of the Bruhrain Railway network, connecting communities and facilitating transportation between different regions of southwestern Germany.

Following modifications in 2011, the bridge incorporated electrical systems to support the Rhine-Neckar S-Bahn regional train service across the Rhine River.

The bridge tracks maintain an unusual 15-centimeter offset alignment due to the curved approach path leading to the crossing structure.
