Schlosskirche Meisenheim

The Schlosskirche features a three-nave hall structure with five bays and incorporates an intricate net-ribbed vaulting system throughout its interior space.

Construction of the Schlosskirche began in 1479 under master builder Philipp von Gmünd, following the destruction of an earlier church during bombardment in 1461.

The church contains Renaissance epitaphs and serves as a burial site for members of the House of Palatinate-Zweibrücken from the 15th to 17th centuries.

The church underwent extensive renovations between 1962 and 1968, which restored many of its original Gothic architectural features and structural elements.

The main choir follows an angular floor plan structured like a central building with seven sides forming a decagon, featuring more complex vaulting than the nave.
