Ottinger Schloß, Heritage castle in Otting, Germany
Ottinger Schloß is a castle in Otting with classic Bavarian features including stables, a chapel, and a separate granary building. The complex also contains administrative offices on the ground floor and an early 19th-century brewery with a tavern and underground storage cellars.
The castle changed hands multiple times between 1617 and 1789 before Friedrich von Schönfeld acquired it in 1816. Schönfeld's connection to the royal court as half-brother to King Max I shaped the property's future significantly.
The chapel served as a spiritual center for the family and their guests, with a burial vault that remains visible today. This religious function was typical for noble families of the time and shaped daily life within the castle.
