Penkun Castle, Renaissance castle in Penkun, Germany.
The fortress stands on elevated ground with thick stone walls, round towers, and architectural elements from the Renaissance period of the 16th century.
First documented in 1190, the castle developed from a border fortress into a residence of Pomeranian dukes through extensive construction between 1484 and 1486.
The border and customs museum within the former administration building presents exhibitions about regional history and Pomeranian judicial practices.
Located 23 kilometers southwest of Szczecin, the castle opens its exhibitions to visitors throughout the year with guided tours available.
The castle cellars contain specialized exhibitions focusing on the historical judiciary system of the Pomeranian region during different time periods.
