Schloss Ruhethal, Medieval château in Mügeln, Germany
The château features a massive 40-meter tower with rounded upper floors, topped by a curved dome and lantern at its northwest corner.
Built in 1150 with a chapel in Döllnitztal valley, the château served as the episcopal seat of the Meissen diocese, replacing an earlier water fortress.
The Bishop's Hall on the second floor contains a radial vault with fifteen profiled ribs, representing medieval architectural craftsmanship.
A support association based in Mügeln manages the preservation efforts and develops utilization concepts for the historical structure.
The entrance portal includes stone benches in its round arch, accessed by a stone bridge leading to the western side of the château.
