St.-Cyriakus-Kirche

St. Cyriakus is a church building in Duderstadt with three aisles, a basilica-style choir, and an octagonal tower that rises 65 meters high. The interior is shaped by pointed arches and vaults that direct light through tall windows.

This church's construction began in 1250 as a replacement for an earlier Romanesque structure and was only finished in 1490 when the vaults were completed. The long building period shows a gradual shift from Romanesque to Gothic style.

The church displays late Gothic craftsmanship inside, with a carved wing altar from 1510 showing scenes from Christ's life. These artworks shape how the space feels and reflect the religious devotion of those who created them.

The church is accessible from outside at any time and invites a walk around the building to view the architecture and tower from different angles. Entry to the interior follows regular visiting hours that should be checked before your visit.

The church houses an organ built by Creutzburg in 1735 that still plays today and is a rare example of regional instrument making. This organ connects the sound world of the 18th century with the Gothic space and creates a special acoustic quality.
