The new building was constructed in 1763 after the demolition of a gothic predecessor church and was directed by regional master builders. This shift from gothic to baroque shows how architecture and church requirements changed in the 18th century.

The church is located at Marktplatz 10 and is easy to spot from the market square side. The main entrance is beneath the tower on the southern side, providing straightforward access to the interior.
The door handles on the church portals are skillfully crafted as fish and mermaids by a local master locksmith. These details show the craftsmanship and creativity that appears even in the smallest elements.
