St. Mauritius, Church building in Altstadt-Süd, Germany
St. Mauritius is a church in Munich with a tower positioned in a courtyard and connected by covered passages to the parish hall and main sanctuary building. The complex comprises several structures arranged around this central open space.
Built in the 1950s during the development of this residential area southwest of Dachauer Strasse, the church served a newly formed parish. The sacristan house was reconstructed in 2005 with new materials while maintaining the original design.
The concrete buildings feature exposed surfaces and washed concrete slabs, representing the post-war architectural preferences in German religious structures.
The church complex is accessible via a network of footpaths and is used regularly for services and community events. Visitors can explore the grounds on foot and move through the various areas of the complex at their own pace.
The 2005 reconstruction of the sacristan house introduced sand-lime bricks and prefabricated concrete elements while preserving the original design concept.
