Stadtpark Lahr

Stadtpark Lahr is a 4.5-hectare park featuring geometric rose gardens with diverse varieties, ancient trees, and specialized plant collections. The grounds include rhododendron sections, Mediterranean terraces, and a cactus collection spread across different zones.

The park began as a private garden created by Christian Wilhelm Jamm, who bequeathed it to the city of Lahr in 1875. This donation transformed it into the public space that exists today.

The park combines French garden design with English-style perennial beds and ponds that showcase different horticultural traditions. This blend of gardening styles shapes how the space looks and feels as you walk through it.

The park is easy to navigate with well-maintained paths connecting the different garden sections and plant collections. Plan enough time to explore all the zones at a relaxed pace.

Beyond the gardens, the park houses a small animal collection including squirrel monkeys, meerkats, and peacocks alongside dwarf goats and ponies. This unexpected mix of botanical garden and mini-zoo sets it apart from a typical flower park.
