Stadttheater Fürth, Art Nouveau theatre in Fürth, Germany.
Stadttheater Fürth is a sandstone theatre in the center of Fürth, Bavaria, built in the Art Nouveau style. Its facade and entrance areas are covered with curved lines, floral ornaments, and decorative details that define this architectural period.
The theatre opened in 1902 and was designed by the Vienna-based architects Fellner & Helmer, who were among the most sought-after theatre builders in Europe at the time. It was built during a period when many German cities were commissioning new performance venues.
The theatre plays a central role in the city's cultural life, hosting regular drama performances, concerts, and dance productions. These programs shape how the community views itself and attract visitors from across the region.
The theatre sits in the center of Fürth and is easy to reach on foot from the main train station. Booking in advance is a good idea, as popular shows tend to sell out quickly.
Fellner & Helmer designed over 50 theatres across Europe, and the Fürth building is one of the few still in regular use today. Looking closely at the facade, visitors can spot details that appear in nearly identical form on other theatres the duo built in different countries.
