Thüringer Freilichtmuseum Hohenfelden

The museum displays 35 historical buildings across its grounds, including farmhouses, workshops, barns and traditional structures from different regions of Thuringia.

The site contains a residential building from 1550, which represents one of the oldest preserved rural structures in Thuringia and endured five separate wars.

Exhibitions throughout the museum present traditional farming methods, local customs, and regional crafts through restored buildings filled with period-appropriate furnishings.

The museum operates from March to November between 10:00 and 18:00, while winter hours run from Tuesday to Sunday between 11:00 and 17:00.

The museum features the oldest post mill in Thuringia, along with specialized structures such as bee houses, dove towers, and a flower pot pottery building.
