Oldenburger Wallkino, Historic cinema in Oldenburg, Germany
Oldenburger Wallkino is a cinema with an Art Nouveau facade decorated with ornamental details and elaborate embellishments throughout. The building contains two separate screening rooms that accommodate different audiences.
The building opened in September 1914 as one of the most advanced cinemas in northern Germany and initially seated about 750 spectators. Despite the wars of the 20th century, it survived with minimal damage and remained in operation.
The theater takes its name from the city wall nearby and remains a gathering place for film enthusiasts throughout the city. Both screening rooms shape the cinema culture in Oldenburg and are a key part of local cultural life.
The cinema is easy to reach and located near the old town in a well-known spot. Access is on foot, and the facilities have been regularly upgraded over the years.
This is one of the few cinema buildings from that era that has been fully preserved and is protected as a cultural monument. This protection makes it a rare example of original cinema architecture in the region.
