Radeberger Destillation & Likörfabrik, Historic distillery in Radeberg, Germany
The Radeberger Destillation & Likörfabrik is a heritage-protected factory in Radeberg that produces herbal liqueur and other spirits, marked on the outside by a distinctive golden sun sculpture. The building houses production facilities that show how the beverages are made within the factory.
Wilhelm Richter founded the factory in 1877 as Dampfdestillation & Liqueurfabrik Goldene Sonne and created a bitter herbal elixir for the Saxon court. The business grew into a recognized producer of spirits and liqueurs in the region.
The building houses production areas where visitors can watch herbal liqueur being made using time-honored methods. The golden sun sculpture at the entrance symbolizes the location's long connection to crafting fine spirits in this region.
Visitor groups of at least 10 to a maximum of 40 people can join guided tours that show the inner workings of production and end with tastings. The factory is accessible from Monday through Saturday, so visitors can come during the week or on Saturday.
A special bottling called Radeberger Reserve ages in used Scottish whisky barrels and picks up woody and smoky flavors that complement the original recipe. This experimental version shows how the traditional house also explores modern production methods.
