Heilig-Geist-Kirche, Catholic parish church in Schweinfurt, Germany.
Heilig-Geist-Kirche is a parish church built in the Romanesque Revival style featuring three portals decorated with biblical scenes and a tower topped with a tall Virgin Mary statue. Inside, two organs dominate the acoustic space and serve the liturgical life of the congregation.
Construction took place between 1897 and 1902 following architect Anton Leipold's designs on the site of an earlier chapel destroyed during the Second Margrave War. This rebuilding was part of Schweinfurt's urban development in that era.
The space draws the community together for worship and gatherings where people express their faith. The two Steinmeyer organs here define the sound of services and make it a center for religious music.
The church sits on Schultesstrasse and remains open regularly for services and religious events, with visitors free to enter during those times. The interior can be explored at leisure to appreciate the architecture and instruments.
The building deliberately rotates more than 90 degrees from standard church orientation, with its west wing facing southeast due to urban planning constraints of the era. This unusual alignment reflects how city design needs shaped its construction.
