Thon-Dittmer-Palais, Classical palace at Haidplatz, Regensburg, Germany.
The Thon-Dittmer Palace is a classical palace complex at Haidplatz that blends Gothic and Renaissance elements beneath a unified facade. The building unfolds around an inner courtyard with four wings, each part of what were once separate medieval townhouses.
Two original medieval townhouses were joined together in the late 1700s under architect Emanuel d'Herigoyen's direction. The merged complex took shape from 1781 to 1809, fusing historic structures with the classical style of the period.
Today the palace hosts exhibitions and cultural gatherings in the UNESCO World Heritage center. Visitors and residents use its spaces for meetings and artistic activities throughout the year.
The palace is located west of the old town at Haidplatz 9 and functions as a public cultural center. You can walk around freely, and regular guided tours are offered if you want to learn more about the building and its history.
Inside the palace is a preserved Gothic Sigismund Chapel, a rare remnant from medieval times. The Renaissance arcades of the inner courtyard form a quiet contrast to the classical exterior and show how different architectural periods were brought together under one roof.
