Neustädter Hafen, Inland port and heritage monument in Dresden, Germany
Neustädter Hafen is an inland port on the right bank of the Elbe River in Dresden, featuring three floating piers with water and electricity connections. The harbor stretches along the waterfront and accommodates various vessel sizes with modern mooring equipment and facilities.
The port was established in 1872 and became one of the first harbors in Saxony with direct railway connections. Its creation reflected growing river traffic that required modern infrastructure for Dresden's expanding commercial needs.
A bronze sculpture called 'Lastenträger' by Constantin Meunier stands at the harbor since 2008, representing the industrial heritage of the location.
The harbor provides around 60 mooring spots for boats up to 10 meters long, with shower facilities and restrooms available. Both daily visitors and permanent residents have access to these amenities for a comfortable stay on the water.
Two former paddle steamers now serve as floating hostels at the harbor, offering overnight stays with historical character. These converted vessels blend the port's maritime past with modern accommodation options for travelers.
